As freelancers, we’re our own HR departments. There’s no one looking out for our emotional satisfaction other than ourselves. Clients may not always go out of their way to let us know we’ve done well. It’s up to us to recognize and reward ourselves, so we can stay motivated.

I have recently signed up to Bundlr and decided to try it out to round up coverage of the closure of Guardian Local. I found it very easy to use. Maybe a little too easy…

Sometimes you see a piece of news that stops you in your tracks. While at the gym, I saw this on the screen across the room and it made me get off the cross trainer and walk across the room to get a better view of the screen.

Seconds later, the man to the right of me joined me. Then another guy who was leaving paused on his way out. Then the gym worker stopped sweeping and asked us what was happening.

The four of us watched in shock as we saw a woman manhandled by tough looking men while she was trying to tell her tale of horror. She was them whisked off in a car.

“Where are you taking her?” asked the Sky Reporter.

“Somewhere no-one will find her,” observed the gym worker. I hope he’s wrong.
